Thursday Two Questions #45

Had we thought about it, we could have had some nice custom t-shirts made for our family reunion. It is rare that our family get together because we are all over the map. And that is more of a reason to treasure those moments with some kind of gift.

The last time we had sort of a reunion was three Christmas(es) ago. But that wasn’t exactly what I called fun and goofing off, since we did a lot of remembrance of my dad. The weather was cold and rainy and I was the host. Need I say more? Smiles.
Now, it was more like a vacation to me when we were in the Caribbean with people waiting on us while we soak in the sun and sand. Like the first time and last time we cruised with mom, which was more than a decade ago.
I might have an opportunity coming up soon here to plan on some sort of memory gifts. I have a lot of choices. I could go with sweatshirts, casual tops, hats, tote bags, or towels. All of these items can be embroidered or custom printed. Yet, I don't want it to turn into a tchotchke (more known as cachkis) and end up on the shelves collecting dust, or on the first truck to Goodwill. I guess I will have to put on my thinking cap to come up with a gift that one might keep and use. I will also have to come up with a clever saying or something that they will actually like to see. But in the meantime, I have two questions for you.

Here are Self Sagacity's Thursday Two Questions #44
1) With regards to tchotchke, or things you received from events, do you keep or use anything in particular?

2) What would you most likely treasure, or use a; sweatshirt, casual top, hat, bag, or towel?

  1. It depends what is given out at the events. Everything that you've mentioned, yes I would use. Depending on the event, some may also be collectible in which case if I didn't use it I'd sell it :)

  4. A reunion in the Caribbean would be so exciting, what a great way to catch up with everyone and relax at the same time.

We have received a lot of swag (tchotchke) from various events, things like caps, tee shirts, bags and even a flash drive.

My favorites are a couple of zip hoodies from the Baja 1000. I wear them all the time. I also like bags because I can use them for so many things.

  5. T-shirts are nice but what about a family collage so everyone can see themselves having a good time?

  6. Question 1: Mugs and glasses. I have a glass from my prom almost 30 years ago that we use as a drinking glass. Mugs are very durable and we have several keepsake mugs from events of the last century.

Question 2: A hat or baseball cap.

  7. I'm not a hoarder, so I don't collect things. I think this stemmed from the fact that I'm a lazy duster :-) and don't like dusting too many things at all.

Whatever 'stuff' I've got they can be kept in a small cabinet. I never buy trinkets etc.

In regards to what I would like to treasure. I think I would mostly use a bag. I think they're practical and useful.

  8. 1. I like to use my souvenirs. I don't like to see them just stowed away to be dumped later. What's the point. :)

    2. I'd treasure a bag more. I'd used it and when it doesn't work anymore, I'd store it :)

    aloha!

  9. I would use the items from the swag bag if there were notepads, cups, t-shirts in it. I would treasure a bag the most.
