Wonders of Water and Waves

G is for Gadarene, which means headlong, precipitate. They say water eventually wears down even rocks and mountains. This saying is so very powerful, I live by it for as long as I can remember. Sometimes you live to see your persistence pay-off, and other times, you will never. Especially if the water is trying to move a mountain, a very tough and stubborn individual. I wish to have the elegance of acceptance like water and waves. Calm and not tense when I see much work a head of me.

Have you ever dealt with anyone that is stubborn? If so, you would know that often you could not say anything that would ever change this person's mind. What do you do once you felt like you have tried everything?
It is mentally exhausting to keep fighting the battles you obviously have lost before. And to top it off, it is extremely frustrating when the person is not someone you can just dismiss...

As for my own remedy? Just keep on peddling and remember it's not me that is going to give up.

Thanks for stopping by today.

  3. There's a lot to be said for patience, self-control and wisdom when dealing with stubborn people, not that I have it all mastered. Good luck with your stubborn person!

  5. Hmmm. Sometimes it's not worth the effort to change another person's mind. But if it's important, good for you for not giving up.

  6. Excellent piece. The photos are superb. The power of water is so overwhelming, it can rarely be captured so well. I remember seeing a huge hunk of asphalt from a road being buffeted about by hurricane driven seas. And then, there are people. :)

  12. What stunning shots and that last one is amazing. Beautifully captured waves. Stubbornness is born of ego, therefore it is hurtful and should be just ignored.

  14. Beautiful ocean pictures, Amanda.
I have a stubborn streak myself and I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. When used for the greater good and for a worthy cause, it can be a good thing! When one is just being obstinate, that's a different story.

  15. I love your metaphor of water wearing down rock to human patience. Patience is something I have long struggled with, though I have a lot more now in middle age than I did when I was young.

  22. That's why I think, there's a saying to "live and let let" because sometimes no matter what - trying to get a point across to someone not open is like waves trying to wear down a mountain....it ain't going to happen in our lifetimes. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. I'm here to return the follow and I'm go glad to have found your blog. Great insight and writing. I'm going to like it around here. Smiles.

  23. I have a few people like that in my life too

some times you need to see things from a different angle or you can just chose not to fight the battle and change the subject Doesn't always solve things but life's too short. Hugs on your situation.

  24. What a great comparison of roaring waves and stubborn people. Eventually the ocean and waves subside, become calm and then tranquility. Beautiful pics.

  25. Oh how I love the ocean. I am a Taurus, which means I am the most stubborn person in the world. Sometimes you cannot wear stubborn people down - not because they don't want to give in (even if they know you are right) we just can't. Its physically and mentally impossible. Just ask my husband:) good luck.

  26. It made me wonder how stubborn I am. I know how stubborn I can be and I'm like that water, I go through all the phases of calm, rough, taking different paths, and yes, trying to erode that stubborn mountain.

You write so very well! I like reading your stuff.
