Inspire Me Selflessly

Today's theme is inspirational, and it will be, just with an "SS" approach. A long time ago I was inspired by many people, and still is, but the "who" have changed. While before I had a much better opinion of my circle of influence, they have since failed me, and turned out to be selfish and full of excuses.

Today, I sat next to a man that I once was very inspired by. He was so selfless towards others [it's not my SO]. He said many things that even my children would have called him on for being so wrong. After the conversation, I started to wonder if he was ever selfless, or has he always been selfish and I just couldn't see?

I am inspired by people who are "selfless." It is difficult to be selfless, because many are only looking out for themselves. This man is blinded by what he thinks is appropriate and from there expects others to see things his way. Even to the point that he too believed his own excuses. I am not talking about being the world savior here, just within the little circle of our influences. I had suspected my respect for this person faded many years ago, and today it was very much confirmed. His excuses were lamed. As if he was saying: "I am who I am, accept me for who I am." You know the last person that I heard this from, is still a loser. That saying is good for people who have mastered the art of humanity, otherwise we all have things we can improve on.

Now, besides the inevitable, admirable, worthiness people in this world, my children inspire me, Dustin inspires me in how much he wants to do with his young life, always pushes to better himself. MattLove inspires me to be kind, realistic and honest. To be true to myself no matter what people thinks. Trinity inspires me to be independent, friendly, and courageous.

Those things might not mean very much to many people, but for me it will be wonderful to see how these characteristics mature in these young people.

They are growing and learning each day. They want so much to do the right things, and that is beautiful. They are eager to please and they are so very innocent. Their hearts are pure, their minds not so twisted. They thrive with new ideas and want to learn to better themselves, while some adults are just done trying. I guess that is why I find such inspiration in children, the effort is admirable.

Thanks for stopping by today.

  3. Your flowers are gorgeous.

Children are innocent but they catch up later when they grow up. There are no innocent or "selfless" adults and they can't disappoint you if you don't believe in fairy tales.

  4. I like people who invest a little time in bettering themselves. Life changes constantly, and without the ability to improve oneself is not a good trait in my book!

  7. @maiaT When children grow up that's when no longer categorized as children. This thought might be the ultimate answer about selflessness.

  10. Beautiful flowers and interesting thoughts about being selfless. I guess the best way to inspire selflessness is to be one yourself.

Paradigm is a great place to be in.

  11. Jesus said to let a child lead us. They are less selfish and more innocent before the world taints them and they become like the individual who sat beside you. Let us encourage our children to remain pure.

  22. @ruthi I admire selfless people, as such we have many bloggers that blog for charity, as well as people who volunteer their time for charitable work. My aspiration would be to do charitable work - in Viet Nam- when my kids are on their own. Ok- now that it's written, we will see to it that Self Sagacity lives up to it eh?

  24. I think we do receive inspiration from others to do our best but I, also, think it comes internally as well, from values that we incorporate throughout our lives. Of course, having children, who look to us for guidance and example makes us try just a little bit harder at times when we might feel like giving up!

  25. @RNSANEEven as humans we sometimes fail our beliefs with our behaviors. But the core value should be there. Sometimes we could be judging too harshly?

  26. @Kristi MaloneyWonderful, I think kids are full of energy, and not so afraid. That is one of the areas that should inspire all of us.
