A Pursuit of Dreams

I haven't seen Paris Hilton on the inquirer lately, for a while there, she was all over the news, and on gossip magazines all the time. She is a perfect example of a born rich girl. I always thought it would be wonderful to be rich, but growing up I was taught that money can't buy happiness, and that life would be bad with it.

I took the advice and kept it inside, but didn't stop dreaming to be rich, or having more. I plunged into different opportunities, and learned different trades. One of those trades was financial investments. I wanted to become a stockbroker, and obtain my Series 7 license. Investing at the time was mostly done through a full brokerage firm. Now, online stock trading is the way people are trading stocks. Research can be done through the internet and information is so much more accessible. There are even software programs that will give you the hot daily stock picks and when to buy or sell. Investments have become more self-service and less dependent on human help.

Once I had finished the course, the job came down to being a sales job and cold calling. Sales and cold calling wasn't my idea of daily work. So I tucked the knowledge away until it calls for attention.

My pursuit of turning dreams into reality continues, and mean while, I have at least enjoyed some things rich people own. The Hilton below is located in San Francisco, very grand and glamorous. I don’t remember ever having bad service at the Hilton yet, and I hope it stays that way. It is one of many great places to go and pretend to be irresponsible.

  1. we were brought up the same way, that money life and richness is not all about money, but nevertheless, sometimes, like you, i also wonder how it is to be rich, where i can just wander around and explore many wonders of nature everyday :)

  2. This is beautiful! I like the mosaic a lot!

(Paris Hilton is just a girl who was born with gold blocks in her mouth, and has no talents, just lot of money!)

  3. I stayed at the Hilton for four days once when one of our National Sexual Assault Response Team conferences was held there. It was a great meeting and we had a great time utilizing all the facilities there. It was also the locale of an Academy of Forensic Sciences meeting where I met a someone from Switzerland who became a dear friend - that resulted in a subsequent visit to him home and family! So the San Francisco Hilton is quite special to me!

  4. Staying in a hotel is nice but there's no place like home and there are plenty of people with money who are unhappy. Not that we wouldn't like to try for ourselves to see if more money would not buy us some things we would enjoy...

  7. @MumsyMumsy, I think Paris Hilton has the ability to turn herself into the media icon, so to me, that's one of her talents.

  8. @betchaiYes, I hope that I am speaking the truth for many. We all grew up with fairy tales, girls meeting prince and prince meeting a nice beautiful girl, then they live happily ever after...in a CASTLE. ;-)

  10. My mom used to take me along on her antiques buying trips to the East Coast from the time I was just 8. On our way home, we stayed at the Boston Airport Hilton and I filled out the room question sheet about the quality of our stay. 2 weeks later I got a personal letter from Conrad Hilton!

  12. Beautiful mosaic and beautiful places. I shall never see them in this life. This is one of the reasons that I don't see anything wrong in being reach.
Is there anyone in the world not dreaming about a CASTLE?

  13. I was brought up that money cannot buy happiness and that becomes more and more true as I get older. Not having much money allows us to be grateful for what we do have.

The Hilton hotel here is spectacular but only accessible to the rich tourists. There are so many other more affordable places to stay here in SF.

  18. @Poetic ShutterbugYes, it's great what money can buy, but not so great what it can do to families.

  19. @Grandma Diane AZI am not sure if I feel sorry for her, as I am sure she had realized how to milk her status. I think she is living the life she knows and that is happiness to her. I understand where you are coming from though, PH don't really have a clue of true reality.
