1) What is your favorite pet? 2) Why? I don't have one. The only pet I considered having is fish. I am not good at taking care of animals. Sometimes I think Trinity is my pet. She is so cute and she talks to me too. Not like a pet, I don't understand them. She makes me happy and gives me a reason to wake-up in the mornings. She is my favorite pet because she lets me hold her and play with her like one. She lets me dress her up and do her hair. Lately, she even picks out her own clothes and I like watching her evolved over time. I can't believe how fast she is growing and how fast I am aging. Sometimes I wish she could stay at this age, as she is so happy and content with her life and environment.

Pets are expensive here in Singapore too..we used to have fish but they keep dying on us so we gave up. I'll certainly let my pet go if budget doesn't allow for it.

DeleteIf you already have a pet, it's hard to let go, but since I don't have one, it is easier for me to not think of owning one.
To properly taking care of a pet, one needs to think of it like a child, as they do cost money when they get sick.

DeleteAmanda, my pet gives me so much loving and he keeps the mouse population under control. lol My babies have grown up and left home and hubby doesn't like to cuddle, but my fur buddy does. I can sacrifice snacks and beverages to take care of my buddy. He doesn't ask much. He sleeps at my feet each night and sits on the back of the recliner when I am on my lap top. I am an affectionate person and he meets a need not met otherwise.

Yes. I could see pets have keep many humans company as well as protect them. I also think if you live in an area with mouse problems, believe me, I would be a cat's best pal myself. That is a very good thought BTW-
DeletePets can be expensive depending on what type of pet you have. The biggest expense is of course veterinary care but I love my cats and want to make sure they are healthy.

I know right? That is what I thought. Once you have a pet, he/she is a member of the family. Our family dog Lulu was certainly a member and was treated like one too. He was our best security guard.

ReplyDeleteI guess it would all depend on what kind of animal I had for a pet to say, if I would get rid of it or not because of finanical reasons. We had to give up our indoor cat years ago because of my allergies. We had her for almost 9-years. That was hard to do, too.
Pets become very much a part of your family, so when choosing one make sure it's an animal you can keep up with little expense.
I think you made some really great points, that is why I am petless right now. Unless I can keep and be responsible for pets, I am not going to get one just for the time being.
DeleteHi Amanda, these are neat questions. Your Trinity will be wanting a puppy or kitty cat before very long. My suggestion is that you get her one if that would be possible. If not try to find a friend who has one that you might 'visit' now and then. Trinity could 'visit' the pet. (Hope you don't mind the Ask Dr. Jim (blog) type answer. This might be a subject that belongs over ther.

not only are pets expensive to own, also time consuming. would love to have one, but then, we travel a lot and mostly the national park trails don't allow pets for wildlife etc and we feel for our dog if we always leave him behind.

ReplyDeletePets are expensive. So are children. Both are family. I find the thought of getting rid of one's pet to cut back on one's expenses as repulsive as most people would find the thought of getting rid of one's child for that very same reason!

Yes. When I was young, and our family dog died, I think we all died for months too. It was as painful loosing him as a family member, which he was. My one and only ever pet.

I see pets differently. In my country, we don't really have pets. We have dogs and cats and we do not call them pets.
They live in our yard and are treated like animals, not like a family member. We don't takek them to the doctor or any such thing. We do share our regular cook food with them, but we don't buy them special food. If they get sick, they go away and whatever they do, makes them feel better and then they come back. Some might die. It's a cycle.
So it's hard for me to associate dogs and cats inside my home, on my floor, bed, couch etc. Seems weird.
So it would be a new experience for me if we do get a pet. And therefor something I have to think strongly about.
When I was looking for a mate, I made sure that I find one that is neutral or doesn't have any pets. I didn't want to end up with all the chores. Luckily SO feels the same way I do, if we don't have the time or the means, then no pets.

ReplyDeleteI don't have a pet at the moment. We bought a hamster who promptly died in 5 days. It turned out she had wet tail illness, so they gave us our money back. Thing is, my daughter was so hurt, she doesn't want another right now. We've had different hamsters for years, but you know they don't live that long.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is allergic to cats, and my son, to dog hairs. Go figure.
1) I have a small dog and yes pets can be very expensive. So what I did is learn how to trim his hair and I give him bath instead of taking him to the groomer. The only thing I can't get away is when I have to take him to the vet.
