I have a Pampered Chef knife and a Calphalon Santoku knife(cheap, but it has worked well for me, although I will mention I only use that for cutting vegetables). I honestly use my kitchen scissors to cut my meats. It is so much faster and effective for me. It all depends on what you are using the knives for. That is great that you are reading reviews and checking everything on-line. For major product purchases, I have relied on on-line reviews, and I have not found them to fail me yet when you have a lot of people who have reviewed.
