After life's hard knocks in recent years I think I have come to know more about who I am. For one I have realized that I am stronger than I thought I was. I don't worry about age and relish the experiences and the good times of the past. I hope that the future will have better things in store. I am going to read your guidelines and see if I qualify to participate in your Meme. Take care.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07742935336463111471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-78116117926709385052013-05-15T03:17:48.134-07:002013-05-15T03:17:48.134-07:00Wow... it takes not time for old age to warn us of...Wow... it takes not time for old age to warn us of the certainties of what we called the future.UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA - IDUEHEhttp://www.unn.edu.ngnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-89374882467304756372013-05-13T11:13:27.345-07:002013-05-13T11:13:27.345-07:00It was only in my 30s that I started to understand...It was only in my 30s that I started to understand who I was. I love the fact that my kids are getting older and aren't as 'dependant' as they used to be. MY youngest is still only 11, but she's a mature 11 so she's not as 'needy' as the others were at her age. It is taking a battle sometimes because I know what I want to feel and it's confidence in me.

I think now I'm straightening out the childhood horrors so that I can move on to the next phase.

Ahh yes, I love this post and I can't wait to be there...more at peace with me.

1) When was it that you felt like you knew "who" you are?
I think in 2008. We were going to visit the inlaws and I realize, I wasn't nervous of them anymore. I realize, I wouldn't put up with any bullpoo from them anymore and it was set and it was beautiful. Of course I wouldn't disrespect them either, but I knew I was on even keel and would stand by my family and my demands.
Very freeing I tell you. I have not looked back since.

2) What do you dig about getting older?
I dig being able to stand up more for what I believe in.

Have a great weekend woman :)Colette Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04844522784600855200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-21952896328829084212013-05-09T22:11:57.079-07:002013-05-09T22:11:57.079-07:00Wow, Amanda - I really did a double take when I sa...Wow, Amanda - I really did a double take when I saw that photo! :-)

1) I'm still discovering - and re-discovering - who I am.

2) The older I get, the less I worry about what others think - the more grounded I am - and the more confident I am about what really matters in life.

Great questions today. There is a saying, "It's Hell getting old." In general, I am happy with who I am, and my situation. I always try to make the best of whatever it's in my way and deal with it as it comes. Occasionally, ill-manners from people I love get me down and in despair, but I also bounce back :-)Icy BChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14137249916575963385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-68079035244216303002013-05-08T22:21:02.768-07:002013-05-08T22:21:02.768-07:00I like where I am in life now.. am at peace too I ...I like where I am in life now.. am at peace too I think as we age we gradually understand more.
Dominique Gohhttp://dominiquegoh.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-78468679716014924662013-05-08T22:20:17.158-07:002013-05-08T22:20:17.158-07:00Amanda, I love this post. I had much more confidence in myself and was at the age that I did my own thing and didn't care about what others thought. Like you mentioned, I also don't blow up at the least little thing anymore. There is a sort of peace and serenity that I feel now that I never felt in the past.

Joanne Olivierihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01856998108256408734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810566902374575347.post-14187009823443370652013-05-08T20:17:46.540-07:002013-05-08T20:17:46.540-07:00Amanda, I enjoy being older because I feel wiser, ...Amanda, I enjoy being older because I feel wiser, my children are grown and I am getting closer to retirement. I look so forward to not having to punch a time clock and having some time to do what I WANT to do. he he I absolutely love spending time with the grands and not having to be a FULL time custodial parent.
I began to get more in touch with myself through writing. Like you, I was so confused before too, but now, I started to think more of reality and have accepted that dealing with reality and accepting it fully and be happy with is makes me happiest than continue chasing something which I did not even know if they were part of my dreams or just because I thought then when I was younger they were the expectations. So happy to be me, now. I exactly don't know when it happened, but it has been quite long now that I am very much accepting of my capabilities and limitations.betchaihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04754061874315713589noreply@blogger.com
