Self Sagacity & Children | Time Flies

Looking back at this photo seven years ago, I can't believe how fast time flew by. Well, actually I can, because I felt the years left me. It went too quickly. I think we did what we can to enjoy life too, not just working all the time. Not sure if we did a good job in this area, but we are happy. It's ok to just sit and relax sometimes. We don't have to always be doing something extra.

I am getting braver. Today, I am sharing a recent picture of my kids and me at a wedding. I thought it would be nice to bring out some of the people that make up this blog.

1) Has a stranger ever changed your life? Someone you met briefly, but significantly impacted your decisions? {Excluding your significant other}

2) My neighbor has a teenage daughter pleading for Taylor Swift tickets. She asked me what age I thought would be appropriate for a concert? You know, I am stuck on this one, I am not sure what to say, what do you think?

  3. 1) Yes, lots of them actually. Come to think of it, almost every month! I think it is because I try to connect as much as I could, strangers and friends.

    2) Hmmm, er 20s? Oh, go ahead! Go with them if you want!

Hey, the kids look cool! And so do you. ;-)

  4. 1) No!

    2) 15 - that's how old I was when I saw my first concert.

  5. 1) Yea, I do.. In fact, every now and then.. It could be a simple word or a simple sentence and yeah, it sort of will stop me to think in a wider scope before deciding on something..

    2) 20, at least that is when I went for my first.. :)

1-Yes, there are many that changed the way I think about life, but not impacting my decision!

  7. I wouldn't say a stranger has made a tremendous impact on my how I've lived my life, but there was one time when our car broke down beside the road. It was dark and cold. We had three young children at the time and we were 2-hours from home. This was before the age of cell phones, mind you. We had to walk down the road a bit to someone's house to ask to use their phone. Those people were so compassionate. They not allowed us into their home, but the grown son who was a bit older than us, took my husband to a Walmart to buy a new battery. While that wasn't the perfect fix for our problem, it was the best we could do for the night. The son & his wife followed us into a town afterwards until we could get to a hotel. That act of kindness has forever stayed with me and it has opened my heart to helping others more.

Taylor Swift seems to be a very wholesome young lady, but concerts are very loud and that would be the biggest factor which would cause me to not allow my young children to attend such an event. Kids' ears are more sensitive than an adults. I think it would be best to hold off on concerts until a child is in his/her mid to late teens.

  10. One stranger who impacted my life was the doctor who took us aside when my mother-in-law was in the hospital dying. The doctor explained that if this was her mother, she would let her mother go. No more tubes, no more surgery. You would have to have been there to understand what a comfort this was for the family. In fact, I could safely say that the doctors and nurses I've met each time a loved one was hospitalized were like angels to me. As far as Taylor Swift is concerned, I'm not a follower of hers, but I believe she is a "general audience" type singer, not too over-the-top in any direction, so I'd say she is appropriate for ages as low as 12 or 13. The hardest part about attending her concert would be having the stamina to handle the crowds and the noise.

  11. @VintagesouthernlifeMy older one is good about picture taking, but I agree, it is hard to get them together. As such you can see Miss T out in her own world. Smiles.

  12. @betchai Yes, I have been many times when together with my boys. I like it, but I don't think my SO does. haha

  13. @Lui I can tell you that I have been doing #1 a lot more lately. #2 Good one. I thought maybe 30! Thanks for the compliment. I was going to post one with my side face, but didn't think it was a fair deal for them. Smiles.

  14. @Kala 2) I think 15 is what I was used to, but given all there is to be engage in today, I was hoping to delay it until T is 30. Smiles

  15. @Krislin Neo, Ting (Syracuse Pike) I am moved by a couple of sentences from others. I would remember them and live by them until this day too. 20 is getting closer to my thoughts here. Smiles

  16. @Icy BC Hummm. Hopefully if they've changed the way you think, then you yourself have impacted your life, so then I hope it was in a good way. :-) I got to see about 19...

  17. @Cathy Kennedy That was very nice. I believed this happened to my family before too. We were so poor, but dad loved the once a year road trip. Our car broke down, we spoke very little English. Our family were greeted by a couple, they put us in a hotel...etc. You are right. Their kindness changed the way I think about strangers and life in general. They were gracious and so very generous that we felt like we just met with angels.

  20. 1. Many times I have had people impact my life whom I've either known very briefly or just met. Any situation can change one's life profoundly.

    2. I think for Taylor Swift age appropriate would be maybe 16 or 17 on up. She is not risque and pretty down to earth so later teen years I think would be fine.

  21. @Alejandra AwadThey were adopted! I adopted them at a very young age when I didn't have anything else to do! :-)

  22. Hi... I am catching up with my comments right now. I have been too busy lately with my 2 jobs. And I want you to know that I really appreciate your visit to my blogs. Thanks a lot, it means so much to me. So here I am returning the favor.

Well, for your first question... there are lots of strangers who just made a great impact in my life. They all inspired me in one way or another through their blogs... their photography... their write ups. And you my friend is one of them. And I would like you to know that I am glad I met you.

About Taylor Swift. Honestly I don't know. Maybe 18 yo. We cannot be too careful now. Hayyy... glad I don't have a kid so I don't need to deal with that.

  23. 1- A woman named Laura Combs who taught me what unconditional love and gentleness was all about. Met her when I was 9 years old and remember her still.

2- 18 years old. It's not what my teen would do at a concert but what someone else might do to them. Paranoia lives in my brain.

  24. Many people have made an impact on life, strangers and otherwise. Watch a news story about something horrific or terrific and the story remains with you. A stranger told me about how he contracted MRSA and lost family members because of it. He begged me to tell people and I researched and wrote about it. I believe we touch one another daily.

Concerts- not sure. I only went to church concerts until I was an adult and have been to very few concerts since.

  25. Amanda, I got so caught up with your questions that I forgot to tell you how fabulous you all look, especially you. You certainly do not look old enough to be the boy's mother.

  26. I just read your comment to Alejandra, good one! You do look more like their sister.

While a lot of people I have met briefly have made an impact on my life I'm not sure if any have changed the decisions I have made.

Taylor Swift is a pretty tame concert. To me it would depend on who she is going with to the concert. If there will be parents along any age is fine. Just with friends I would say 13-15 but I would drop them at the door and pick them up immediately after.

  27. My doctor’s nurse is the most wonderful person....a GOOD person . Her name is Claudette and we finally started doing some things together summer before last. She does all the things I wish I did and how she makes the time I do not know. She is kind, gentle, loving, caring and a gracious lady. I have learned so much from her about gratitude and thankfulness. Her spirit is a joyous one. She has had a profound effect upon my life.

I would want a child to be older than high school age before going to a BIG concert. We moms went with our high school kids to see Jimmy Buffett, and that is about all I know about concerts. Taylor Swift appears to be a very nice person, and I would have no worries about an older child going to see her.

Thanks for your visit to my blog. I am so glad you posted the photo of your and your beautiful family because now I know what Amanda looks like and I can put a face to the name.
