However, makeup must be applied appropriately. From a cheerleader's glittery face to an executive's subtle look, there is a time and place for every kind of makeup.

Youthful Everyday

Looks For teenagers and young women, the face is nearly a perfect canvas for makeup. Avoid heavy foundations and mainly use powders to even out skin tone. Daytime eye makeup should also be light and subtle. Forgo the eyeliner and stick with mascara and a bright eyeshadow. Adding a trio of shades such as nude, metallic and light pink brings the shape of the eyelids out without the look being too dramatic. Top off the look with pink lip gloss.

Nighttime Flair

Evening outings give you a chance to experiment with more dramatic looks. Consider a smoky eye appearance or slick silver eyeshadow. Bright lipsticks work well in the evening, especially if dinner is followed by dancing. Add even more flair to your makeup with faux eyelashes. When applied correctly, false eyelashes make the person stand out in the darkness. Add a bright blush to the cheeks to make them radiant. Subtle b
lush is reserved for daytime activities, but play it up at night with striking darker colors.

Professional Shoots

If you are in a professional photo shoot, you'll probably be treated to a makeup chair and a makeup artist. Your skin may be airbrushed to even out the color in all areas including legs and arms. The makeup professional and photographer set the tone for the shoot, so allow them to apply the products as necessary. More makeup is usually needed under harsh photography lights.

Whether you use basic makeup brushes or airbrush systems, applying makeup takes finesse and attention to your unique facial features. 1. Thank you so much for this information. I've always wondering about wearing certain makeup for certain occasions. It's pretty cool that it's so different for certain times of the day. I figured that in photo shoots or acting in films though.

    1. I have to be careful about the colors and amount of makeup I apply during the day. I am sometimes conventions about being outside with my makeup - feels like the person can see every dot of flaw. :-)

  2. I remember when I first started to wear makeup. I was so awful at applying it that I looked really funny. These days I hire someone to do makeup for special occasions, and for usual occasions I just do my own makeup, something simple.

I need to try to do this more often by myself.
