How to Make Fancy Paper Streamer Garland - Thursday Two Questions Meme #154

Fancy paper streamers intertwined
Every year I get so excited about Trinity's Birthday. I thought and planned long in advance. We've made a tradition of decorating for each others birthdays. The birthday person's room and and our living areas are the prime targets.
I had a lot of different color paper streamers and wanted to use them in this year's decorations. So instead of hanging one color, I intertwined the paper streamers and made them into garlands.
I think the paper streamers look more dressed and festive when they are bounded together. Not to mention, they become more resilient double-ply. Below are the steps.

Steps
1) Meet the corners.
2) Tape the corners of both colors- so that it will stay put while you are working.
3) Flip the first streamer over, in the case, it is the yellow, so that it is on top.
4) Flip the second streamer over, in this case, it is the red, so that it now sit on top.
5) Repeat the process until desire length.

  1. This is awesome. I tried to do a streamer "thingie" for my boys joint birthday party last month & it was a disaster. I wanted it to run the length of my deck outside and all I ended up with was a bunch of ripped paper and scraps - I wish I had this last month :)

    1. Oh, I wish you had it too. It would stay so nicely. You can stretch the garland and pull it, and it doesn't lose its shape either.

I used to when the children were younger!

Yes, but that was a long time ago. Now they just want to go out with their friends.

    1. Thanks Judy! She did have such a wonderful Birthday! Although I am starting to put things in her ears that we can't do "big" birthdays anymore..we have to scale down to intimate sessions. :-d

  5. I remember doing garlands as a kid.
Now I'd have to learn again :)

I worry about my kids birthdays. I don't have the $$ to get what they so desire or go where they'd like and so I worry. Because I just want them to be happy.
So when we can do it. I feel so glad for them.

I don't decorate for other family stuff unless it's a combined effort etc.
