Friends Over & Cook-out or Pack-up & Go Away? Thursday Two Questions #141

Summer is here! In our household that usually means our kids can stay up a little later since there is no pressure to get-up early for school. It also means there will be many occasions for weekend get togethers, and or taking day trips with the kids.
When talking about making plans for Trinity fun, I rather cook a good meal and share it with friends at my house. I don't mind cooking, and love to eat what I like, and cooking is the sure way to get what I want.. smiles.

To me one is less work than the other, and it would be stay and cook. The thought of going away is more fun than it actually is, honestly, without the kids it isn't so much fun. We can't really let go even if we are far away. We still need to be mindful that at any second, we might be getting a call. So our agenda is rather tamed. We do the same things, go to eat, watch a movie, shop a little, talk about the kids, and then can't wait to rush home and see what we can do for them. So when we go away, all of us have to go away. And going away with a family? I find it easier to cook,  clean and stay around my house than having to pack-up and go on a trip. Packing is a pain. And having to think is a pain. Think about things that could happen, and pack for those things that might happen isn't all that much fun to me.
Okay, that is the going, the coming back is the cleaning, unpacking and the catch-up. So much more work!

  1. I think it is a lot easier for me to go packing, having no kids. I love exploring, and seeing different natural formations, so I have to bear packing and unpacking, between the 2, unpacking is harder. I do enjoy and love cooking, but I do not enjoy planning and cooking for a lot of people, i find cooking for too many people stressful. That's probably the reason why I don't invite anyone at home for foods :)

    1. Those are all justifiable. Packing for ourselves is just so nice, no stress if you happen to forget something. You can always improvise. I guess it depends on whether one is working or not. I didn't like to cook when I was working, too distracted and too many things on my mind to stand there and slave away behind a stove. Yet, I love to eat good, so I have to slave to my stomach's demands. smiles.

  2. For me, I rather pack and go away! It would be less work. Stay at home and cook has the same sort of things to do: Shopping, cleaning, setting up, cooking, then the cleaning again and putting things away!

    1. Packing and going away seems to be the ideal, yet not - once you are where you are, there's the chores of eating what and how. Well, you know that. but yes, it always sounds like it is easier.

  3. We are on call at our job from 7 am to 11 pm so if called we have to be there at a moment's notice, so the idea of going out of town is just a passing thought.... Going anywhere is cost prohibitive anyway but being home around family is very rewarding. I am truly blessed with a large family and we have some excellent cooks.

  4. I'm like you. I'd rather stay around at home than pack up and go away.

Staying is definitely easier for me.

  5. I actually like getting away with the kids, but you are right! Packing is a real pia. And unpacking too!

We have no plans yet to go away this summer, so thankfully I don't have to worry about that yet!

  6. I like to travel and am much better at packing than cooking. Though I have to admit that just staying around on a weekend is nice.

  7. Haha I have to agree with you. It's so stressful to go on trips. I never enjoy it and just become nanny to my kids and other kids.

    1) Do you ranter pack-up your family or stay around for the weekend?
I like just hanging out with my family in a comfortable setting. Going away is okay for them, but for me it's no fun.

    2) Which is more work for you? Are you better at cooking or packing?
Better at cooking. I always pack too much.

    :)
