Today, I am sharing about my office dilemma, I have too much paperwork. I keep what I think I have to keep. And even as an em-bracer of technology, I welcome electronic copies and store my files on the disk space. However, I still can't say that I am very lean on paperwork.

Here are Self Sagacity's Thursday Two Questions #35

1)How do you keep your paperwork under control? Mail, school paperwork for the kids, paperwork that you have refer back to.
2)Do you have a document management, or a storage system?

  1. 1. I have a very old file cabinet and store all my paperwork and documents in manila file folders.

    2. For important stuff, I also store them online on my hard drive. The documents I have stored on my hard drive I also email to myself so I have a third storage venue in my email folders. If my computer crashes, I'll have the important stuff in my email docs.

  2. Amanda, I am not quite that high tech. The documents we have in our home are filed in pendaflex files.

The articles and photos I write/use online are stored on jump drives now, but I have about 100 floppies from 2007 and before but no computer to read a floppy. :-(

  3. Paperwork? Gosh, I have loads of them too, and they're taking over the house. I keep bills in shoebox for a year and then shredded them. I save my kids artwork though. Other important papers I filed them.
I haven't figure out a really good solution yet...

  4. Paperwork control? What paperwork control? :-) I have just too many paper documents. I've taken out some to burn them. We just can't store them anymore.

    2. We should really go digital. I think it would take a while though.

  5. Oh yes, bills, newspapers, kids' school papers, flyers are packing in every day, and I usually go through it real quick.

I've to decide on the fly to toss out or to keep! Haven't figure out a way to store them yet though.

  6. I'm still using the old fashioned method of folders for most paperwork.

I have converted a few files onto an external drive, it is on my to do list. This is a good idea but I need to make some time to get it done.

  7. Yay! Your post is back from the abyss that is Blogger! :)

I'm drowning in papers! I can't believe the amount of papers that come home each day with Princess Nagger - rather than pile them up, I've been stashing them in a big box...wondering how long I should hang onto them, you know, for 'memory' sake? ;)

The one thing I do keep under control is the junk mail - that immediately goes into the burn pile, and hubby burns that at least once a week. :)

As for the rest, I do have a filing cabinet I put important papers in - not consistently (like not every day...or every week...or every month) but when it gets out of control I spend a day filing. Exciting, no? :)

Thanks so much for the honor of being featured! Sorry Blogger caused you problems!
