Narcissus | Daffodils

Narcissus 'Bravoure' is a mid-season bloomer with white petals and a long, straight, yellow trumpet

What is the difference between daffodils and narcissus?

None. The two words are synonyms. Narcissus is the Latin or botanical name for all daffodils, just as ilex is for hollies. Daffodil is the common name for all members of the genus Narcissus, and its use is recommended by the ADS at all times other than in scientific writing.

  4. Those are so pretty. I wish I could grow flowers. I'm horrible at gardening and they always die. Which is interesting that both my parents were master gardeners.

  6. The paper white narcissus certainly has more fragrance than the yellow daffodil ( I can't even remember if the daffodil smells ) but I think both are so lovely.

I remember a visit to Grasmere in England's Lake District and seeing the daffodils in full bloom there. We made a visit to Dove Cottage where Wordsworth lived when he wrote his daffodil poem.
