A Leisurely Drive to the Zoo

Thanks to Jonathon Woods

When looking for something laid back and leisurely to do, we sometimes go to the zoo. While we do not have any zoos locally, it means that most times we need to drive a little distance to get there. Our usual destination spots are usually the Pittsburgh Zoo or the Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania. So, on a day when we feel like a little drive, we set our home security system (SecurityChoice.com), hop in the car and go!

While most people enjoy going to the zoo on a warm, summer day, we enjoy going on days when it is cloudy or slightly raining. For one, the heat is not blazing down on us, and two, the crowds are smaller. Children tend to be less cranky and fussy when it is too hot, and besides, a little rain never hurt anyone. We do take our umbrellas though!

The favorite attractions at the zoo happen to be the monkeys. We could spend all day just watching them interact with each other. It truly is amazing! A lot of zoos also have shows that go on throughout the day. Sometimes we take advantage of the many different shows available. Our family interests are quite varied and there are usually enough shows going on to make sure everyone has a good time.

  1. I love zoo... always.. That is the only place where I can really see animals and 'talk' to them.. LOL.. The last time I visited a zoo was somewhere last year.. Really wish I can visit it soon..
And yes, about the weather.. Spot on.. LOL.. less crowded but sometimes, it is hard to see some animals cos they are hiding from the rain.. so the best is just cloudy.. ;)

  2. I love the zoo, going next week. I missed it when my children grew up but now go often with the grandkids....??? why do we wait to take children to the zoo? and not as adults only just go and enjoy it? I wonder....
