Bee Bonus

One day I was driving my mother to the doctor’s office. Running out of time as usual. All of a sudden this burst of pink flowers caught me eye for Macro Flowers, Pink Saturday, and Today's Flowers – but I thought no, drive on, you’re going to be late. So I did pass up the tree just about a block when I couldn't resist anymore and looked for a place to turn back around.

I could just snap some quick photos since the tree was on the park strip and not inside the property line, but there was someone on the lawn so I decided to be courteous and ask to borrow his tree for some pictures.

He seemed to be happy and okay with the first picture, but as I snap the second picture I could feel the burning sensation in the back of my neck. I had a funny feeling he wasn’t quite pleased anymore. Then I had to snap a third and a fourth picture and only because I just couldn’t get my camera to focus! But when I could relaxed I saw the bonus for being persistence - a cute little bee! And that my friends was how I could come to join this first Camera Critter today.

  1. Lovely pics. I'm glad you turned around. I usually don't and then wish I did. I love how the pics work for so many memes.

  5. Anna, getting the best shots are just spontaneous aren't they? Crafty Gardener, I think the bee was definitely a bonus, I hardly get close enough to any animal. I didn't know bees we were short on bees last year...It's good to know EG Wow. MaiaT, I am so glad you came by then, there's nothing worst than a spoiled day!

  6. Since you said it was a tree I must assume it is a fruit tree of some sort. The blossoms are absolutely out of this world!

Honeybees have been disappearing all over the world for the last several years due to something called colony collapse, which no one is sure what is causing it. I seemed to have a lot more bees in my garden in our early spring (which happens here in Arizona the first part of February) this year. So many in fact that I couldn't do a lot of pruning except late in the afternoon because I am allergic to bees and can't afford to get stung another time. But now when everything seems to be in the height of spring, I have fewer bees. We have had several bee attacks on humans in the city this spring (one very close to my home), so I hope the sweet little honeybees haven't gone off and joined those Africanized monsters!

  10. What gorgeous blossoms and a wonderful surprise. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I always feel funny when someone is home and I want to take a picture of a tree or flower in their yard. I never trespass, but always worry they may think I am up to no good.

These pretty pink flowers are oh-so-pretty! :) I feel like they sort of represent the woman-femininity- they are so soft and delicate....feminine....beautiful.... ♥ ♥

  12. What beautiful flowers on that tree! And, I do hope that the honey bee population grows this year. I read in a magazine about how people should try to plant flowers that they like. Fewer and fewer folks are gardening as we all become so busy.
