In drier environments the Rose carpets look like the first two pictures. Although these pictures were taken when fall was already in full swing, so you can see parts where the roses were starting to wilt away. I like all types of Rose species, since they do very well in California.

We were having so much wet weather that I decided to not fight it, but instead join in and allow Miss Trinity a little venture in the rain. She was so happy to be outside and ecstatic to touch the rainfall. She had her hat on in the pictures below, but it didn’t stay on for long. And in the matter of minutes she was soaking wet. It's so much joy watching this little person's reaction to the rainfall.
She pointed out some rose carpets that were sunken in the water. I promised I didn't make it that way just for the pictures, but I did see how it needed to be saved. We spent some time in the rain digging a narrow ditch to let the flood drain out from the flower bed and into the sump pump. This weekend, we are having sunshine and it’s such a relief from all that wetness.

  14. This reminds me of how when I was little, I used to spend hours and hours outside in our garden, playing with big, bright pink gumamelas, pretending that they were palaces with princesses inside of them, and I could just stay out there and play pretend with the flowers like that, for HOURS! :)

Lovely memories brought back to me from by your post.... thank you. :)
