Wednesday Lovely Tiny Little Snowballs

This is last week's, January 21, show and tell of where I live. We had hail in Silicon Valley before, but for a minute at most. Last week was a rare occasion. I've seen hailing, but nothing like this. The snowballs were small but thick, it poured down, and the sky acted like this was its normal behavior in this part of town. It was loud, and lasted at least ten minutes. That day, it hailed twice. The pictures below are from my back yard. Lovely little tiny snowballs landed noisily on the trees and on the rose bushes. It was tantalizing, but gave me a scare because I am not used to seeing such aggressive weather. It was said that we had 1/4 inch of hail and still needed more rain. And we got our wish, more rain this week.

If you click on the picture you will get a close-up of the snowballs. It's amazing how these little lovely things are made so perfectly round and even in sizes and so many of them. How did "he" do that? Even man made pearls are not perfect and I couldn't come close to guessing how many of these lovely little snowballs had poured on us that day, can anyone? If you know please let me know.

  5. In Chicagoland area we have snow and ice and frigid weather. Yes, we have all four seasons. I used to live in California. It was a perfect place to live. If you wanted to go ski you went to the mountains. If you wanted to swim you went to the ocean. Great place! Sorry, you had hail. Hail is unusual for there. Agreed.

  11. Oh Sweetie...
Aren't these just beautiful? (I have seen them here in Phoenix also. We always scoop up a cup full and save them to share as a conversation piece when Moma comes for a visit.)

It is a miracle they didn't beat your beautiful roses to death. I love the rain, but I do not like the hail, and the tornadoes at all. Last week we had a tornadoe here in the valley. It was very high wind, even had some flooding. Unbelievable this weather is.

Your photography is absolutely bretahtaking. A true artist sweetie.

Thanks for sharing as always I so love it when you do.

Hope you have a beautiful Thursday. Friday will be here before we know it.

  13. Great capture of your little hail "snowballs". We have hail in and it can do a lot of damage to vehicles and roofs. It's amazing how noisy they are hitting on the roof. And yes, they do hurt when they land on your head (if they are very big or if it is hailing heavily). Glad you were able to experience hail without damage. :)

  14. I've seen that kind of hail twice here in Pomona but silly me, I got excited about it because it was as close to snow as I'd see on the ground here. :-)

  15. You did great with your captures! I could see them falling so hard and strong!

We had hail last week and it was during lunch time and I could see them falling through my office window!

P.S. I use PS and used a template. Just an amateur scrapper.
